Our members are churches,
not individuals.
SPA is a 501(c)(3) association of churches. Each member is an established religious community for which ceremonial use of a sacrament is central to its practice.
SELF-REGULATING
Members are accountable
to each other.
Monthly meetings, annual peer review between member churches, an adopted code of ethics, and a documented process a congregant can use to raise a concern. Members risk losing membership if the ethics standards are violated.
PUBLIC-GOOD INFRASTRUCTURE
What our members build together serves the wider field.
We translate what our members learn into standards, practical guides, educational resources, and legal analysis that can strengthen practice across the wider field.

Peer Support and Network for Sacramental Communities
Provide a confidential forum for collaboration and mutual support among its members to engage in self-regulation, accountability, and improvement in their religious practices.
EDUCATION
Education on Best Practices and Ethical Standards
Provide information on organizational governance, membership policies and procedures, ethics and compliance matters, and best practices for health and safety, both to its members and the general public.
ADVOCACY
Defending the Right to Religious Exercise
Provide education on legal right to religious exercise; defend and clarify existing protected right and pathways to religious freedom through advocacy and legal efforts; and represent religious use in public dialogue.
